People who are already receiving NHS Continuing Healthcare will also have a right to ask for a personal health budget from April 2014.  Clinical Commissioning Groups will also be able to offer personal health budgets to others that they feel may benefit from the additional flexibility and control.

Building on our experience of working with our member authorities to pilot and roll out personal budgets in social care we are now also supporting our members to think about the system-wide changes required to introduce personal health budgets and potentially integrated budgets involving social care, education and heath funding.

This is a fast changing area of policy and practice and we are working closely with the DfE and DH also to ensure that the learning and best practice from social care can be built into the new system.

Our member pages include examples of how personal health budgets may work including early examples of allocation questionnaires which may be applied to heath funding.
