Our work

Over the past eight years, In Control has been working closely with a growing number of children's services, families, children, young people and partners in the health services and in the voluntary and community sector. With the publication of 'Support and Aspiration', a new approach to SEN and disabilities' in 2011, the government signalled the development of personal budgets as a central strand to their plans to transform the SEN and disabilities support offer for families, children and young people.

In Control is well poised to support these system wide changes and to respond to the Children and Families Bill now going through Parliament.

Our Children's Community of Change Programme is a membership programme which local authorities and providers join annually. Our strength is in our members; more than a third of all English local authorities are members. All demonstrate a consistent willingness to share and build on their experiences in order to speed up change and develop best practice.

Members receive bespoke support days alongside a programme of national residential workshops. Support is delivered locally, sub-regionally or regionally. For more information about future and past events, see our events pages.
