Children & young people

Our Children's programme, also known as 'Taking Control' started in 2007 with seven local authorities. To date, we have worked with more than 40 children's services across England.

Through the programme, we work to support children's services to implement self-directed support for children, young people and their families.

There are now more than 500 disabled children and young people across the country who have an individual budget and more than 3,000 that have a budget managed through a budget holding lead professional (BHLP).

In the menu to the left you will find further information on the work that's being undertaken through the programme.

Programme members have access to a secure area of the website with further shared information, best practice tools and resources, information on exclusive member-only publications and events and a network forum.

For more information about the Children's programme and how you can join, please see our support programmes and services page, or email the programme lead, Nic Crosby.
