Julie is one of the founding members of In Control and
was managing director before becoming chief executive in
2009.
Julie has more than 22 years' experience in the health and
social care sectors. Her career began when she worked with
older people to support their rehabilitation and this led to her
becoming a manager of older people's services by the age of 21.
Julie has also worked in service manager posts supporting people
with mental health needs to be resettled in their communities,
managed change in day services and hostels for people with learning
disabilities and has been Director of the North West Training
Development Team.
Throughout her career, Julie has remained rooted in her passion
of enabling people to have the support they need to live ordinary
lives. She has also studied and practised change management
and has considerable experience of helping organisations to
implement personalised services and culture change.
As chief executive of In Control, Julie will ensure In Control
remains committed to supporting and empowering people to live the
life they choose.
