Clare studied health at Sheffield University. She then went on
to work/study at The Institute For the Achievement of Human
Potential (IAHP) in Philadelphia USA on child brain development.
During this time, Clare also worked on facilitated communication at
Syracuse University in New York.

On returning to the UK, Clare worked as a development worker for
Wigan Early Years and Childcare Partnership. In 2007, she
became a support worker for the young man who had inspired her to
go and study in Philadelphia in 1995. Learning how self-directed
support can positively change the lives of individuals and their
families was another source of inspiration. Understanding the
role of the 'support worker' and promoting good practice remains an
area which Clare is very passionate about.
Clare began working with In Control in 2009 to co-ordinate the
Stay
Connected network. In 2010, Clare achieved a BSc
Hons degree in Behaviour Analysis and Intervention.
