Update on regional programmes

In Control is running six regional personalisation support programmes. These are at different stages but core elements include helping councils check the results of personal budgets with local people using POET and their progress with personalisation more generally using Making it Real.

Both programmes recieved a strong boost from Care Services Minister Norman Lamb last month when he wrote to all directors of adult social care strongly supporting them. For Making it Real we have started a programme of Live sessions that gather lots of local stakeholders to take stock with local personalisation efforts and plan priorities for improvement.

As well as POET and Making it Real the programmes have included:
  • A co-produced protocol for better local support for people with compelx needs
  • Supporting providers to better deliver personalsiation - including in homecare and for people with dementia
  • Workshops on building community capacity and resilience
  • Getting ready for the SEND reforms
  • Improving personal budgets delivery and getting ready for the Care Act
  • Integration at the level of the individual including personal health budgets

We are in the process of planning next steps for a number of regional programmes using learning to date, issues arising from Care Act implementation and the ADASS personalisation survey. Our programmes align closely with the Think Local Act Personal (LAP) national agenda and are part of our offer as a TLAP partner.
