This established event, now in its fifth year will give
delegates an opportunity to hear from all those taking forward work
commissioned by the DfE as part of delivering 'Support and
Aspiration; A New Approach for SEN and Disability'.
The challenge for all is to see how all the different pieces
of work link together and where personal budgets across social
care, SEN and health fit in as part of what can only be described
as 'whole system' change.
Representatives from the teams taking this work forward,
Pathways to Adulthood, Early Support and Key Working, Short Breaks
and Support and Challenge to Pathfinders will attend and will share
their early thoughts on the work they are undertaking over the next
18 months. This will provide delegates with a great overview
of the whole programme and a chance to take part in discussions on
how personal budgets fit in with the change agenda. Alongside
this we will also be inviting a number of our member children's
services to talk about their work and their plans.
The two days will consist of focused workshop sessions, and to
ensure delegates make the most of this opportunity, we're limiting
the total number of places to 50.
There will also be a number of networking opportunities
available enabling participants to share experience and
knowledge.
Who should attend?
The event is relevant for all those who will be involved in
delivering personalised services to children and families such as
local authority children's services, provider organisations,
charities and not-for-profits.
Each Children's programme member has two free places available
as part of their programme subscription inclduing up to two nights
accommodation.
A limited number of places are also available for non-members at
a rate of £350 plus VAT, which includes accommodation for up to two
nights and meals.

Previous events
We held a very successful conference in early July 'Everything
you need to know about personal budgets for children and
families'. Presentations from the event are now available
here.
The Children's programme
In Control has been working with children's services since
2007. Over the past five years we have worked with over 45
services supporting them in taking the first steps to introduce and
roll out personal budgets for disabled children and their
families. Part of the membership includes three workshops per
year where we offer a lot of specialist input, guest speakers and a
great chance to network and meet others engaged in the same work
across the country. These events have always been well
attended with many members attending every year. The
workshops complement the on-site support we also offer to our
members.
Personal budgets have been given a high profile recently and
with the Government's Green Paper 'Support and Aspiration: A new
approach to SEN and disabilities' there has been a significant
increase in enquiries from children's services and a major rise in
support being sought by our exisiting programme membership.
