Lloyds TSB funds family leadership course

In Control has succesfully secured funding from Lloyds TSB Foundation to contribute towards a family leadership course in the West Midlands.

The Partners in Policymaking course, which will be free for participants will benefit people with social care needs arising from older age, a learning and physical/sensory disability or a long-term physical or mental health condition. It will also be open to parents, family members or carers alongside people who support them through their work in social care, health, education, employment and leisure.

Participation in the course will enable people to:

  • Have the skills, knowledge and confidence to plan a better future for themselves, the people they care for, or support
  • Play a greater role in their local community through volunteering, peer support, advocacy, participation in local activities, accessing mainstream services or education
  • Help the most vulnerable people in society to be heard and effetively influence policy on a local and national level.

In Control is in the process of obtaining additional match funding for the course from a local authority or provider organisation in the West Midlands.
