In Control has succesfully secured funding from Lloyds TSB
Foundation to contribute towards a family leadership course in the
The Partners in Policymaking
course, which will be free for participants will benefit people
with social care needs arising from older age, a learning and
physical/sensory disability or a long-term physical or mental
health condition. It will also be open to parents, family members
or carers alongside people who support them through their work in
social care, health, education, employment and leisure.
Participation in the course will enable people to:
- Have the skills, knowledge and confidence to plan a better
future for themselves, the people they care for, or support
- Play a greater role in their local community through
volunteering, peer support, advocacy, participation in local
activities, accessing mainstream services or education
- Help the most vulnerable people in society to be heard and
effetively influence policy on a local and national level.
In Control is in the process of obtaining additional match
funding for the course from a local authority or provider
organisation in the West Midlands.
