In Control welcomes three new trustees

National charity, In Control has appointed three new trustees to assist in its strategy to develop as a family support and advice network and in influencing government, health and social care professionals and other organisations.

The three trustees, Richard Williams, Andrew Cozens and Stuart Lane bring with them extensive experience in the health and social care sectors and expertise in the development of personal budgets.

Julie Stansfield, In Control chief executive said: "As a growing charity we strive to ensure that a wide range of knowledge and experience is present among our trustees. The three new appointees bring expertise in a range of sectors and roles and will be highly valuable additions to our team alongside people with lived experience."

Richard Williams works on Merseyside as Chief Executive of Options for Supported Living, a supported living agency set up 20 years ago to support people with learning disabilities. Richard joined in 2004, prior to this he was a Director of Consultancy with Paradigm, and led on work around leadership, organisational development and funding. He has worked in the health service, voluntary sector and education, both in financial and business positions.

After six years at the Improvement and Development Agency and the Local Government Association, Andrew Cozens now works in the social care and health field. He is Chair of the Carers Trust and was previously Vice Chair of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers and a board member of the Skills Academy for Social Care. Andrew spent 10 years as a director of social services, including a year as ADASS President in 2003/4 and he has worked with sector leaders and government to promote reform, political and professional leadership, productivity and creativity.

Stuart Lane was responsible for leading the personal health budgets pilot for Hull as one of the national in-depth evaluated sites. He then acted as a personal health budget advisor to National Programme Delivery team to assist in the implementation of the personal health budgets pilot. He has a clinical background and has worked for the NHS and the voluntary sector.
