The Centre for Policy on Ageing, on behalf of the Local
Government Association (LGA), is making a 'call for evidence' on
the strategies that local authorities need to adopt to accommodate
an increasingly ageing population.
The call is particularly interested
in looking beyond traditional 'care and support' services to
approaches that improve older-age quality of life, provide an
age-friendly environment and include 'prevention' measures that
promote healthy ageing in place.
They would like to hear of
any innovative and groundbreaking work that people are doing.
Examples may come from any area including strategic planning,
commissioning, service design and delivery or activities developed
in partnership with local networks of older people and communities.
Responses may also include how help can be given locally to prepare
the older population for the government's 'digital-by-default'
strategy, how authorities are meeting the requirements of the Care
Act 2014, or how local authorities are engaging with their own
