Barnsley Council has made a series of films they developed
available on their YouTube channel for anyone looking for support
to live independently.
This series of short films about adult social care services and
personal budgets, explain what is available for people who need
support to live independently because they are older, have a
disability, a health condition or are otherwise vulnerable.
They take the viewer through all the steps and processes
involved - from having an assessment to completing a support plan,
to getting a direct payment to different ways to manage care.
There are also case studies from people who currently use
services, their carers and personal assistants telling their
real-life stories about how direct payments have helped them to
lead the life they want to lead, in a way that works for them.
To watch the films, visit their YouTube channel or Barnsley's adult social
care, health and wellbeing website.
