Act fast: Places almost full for webinar on SEN Pathfinder work

Places are filling fast for our upcoming free webinar with Wigan Council, one of the Department for Education's (DfE) pathfinder sites, to highlight the work that is taking place around the special educational needs (SEN) reforms.

The free to access webinar will take place on Tuesday 1 October at 10am until 11am.

The webinar will be presented by Michael Chew, Children's Service Manager: Targeted and Specialist Commissioning from Wigan Council and In Control's Children's Programme lead, Nic Crosby. It will discuss the work being undertaken by Wigan Council to join up funding and develop a single plan supported by a single budget.

In light of the current reforms underway in SEN, will see families given personal budgets for SEN support, and a joined-up approach from education, health and social services to plan support, this webinar will be of value to anyone involved in the delivery of the reforms set out in the Green Paper including:

  • Leads in children's social care, SEN, PCTs or clinical commissioning groups
  • Headteachers, governors or SENCOs in schools
  • Children's services commissioners
  • Parent/carer forums
  • Adult services
  • Employment and training providers

There will also be an opportunity to ask the panelists questions after the presentations.

What is a webinar and how do you take part?

Webinars are an online live broadcast consisting of a presentation and audio. It is easy to take part, all you need is a computer with internet connection and speakers (so you can hear the audio) and a mic (so you can participate in the question and answer sessions if you wish). If you do not have speakers or a mic, then you can access the audio via a telephone. You can also now access our webinars from your mobile device.

Further information on how to access In Control's webinars can be found on our webinar web page.

In Control's Children's Programme

Over the past seven years, In Control has been working closely with a growing number of children's services, families, children and young people as well as partners in the health services and voluntary and community sector.

Our Children's Programme is a membership programme which local authorities and providers join annually. Our strength is in our members and more than a third of English councils are currently members. All demonstrate a consistent willingness to share and build on their experiences in order to speed up changes, develop best practice and share the latest cutting edge information, tools and resources.

You can find out more about our Children's Programme on this web page. Alternatively you can email children@in-control.org.uk
