Taking Control - Children

Taking Control is introducing Self-Directed Support to children, young people, their families and services.

A Network of 35 Children's Services (December 2009); 205 Live Individual Budgets for Disabled children and young people linked to wider 2000+ live budgets for children across services and work led by the Budget Holding Lead Professional, 8 Services making allocations, a first draft Whole System Approach to Individual Budgets across Children's Services, market development, Resource Allocation and Outcomes Based Commissioning.... some of the work underway across the network.

These public pages include top-copies of current work, useful documents, headlines form work across the network, news and links to useful stories and linked articles.  There is a further much larger area for members where everything we are doing is shared, if you would like to find out more about joining the network...

    A discussion paper setting out the emerging policy context for children’s services. The paper argues personalisation can only be achieved by a fundamental transformation in the power relationships between services and families. It explores four of the essential elements of Self-Directed Support: Safeguarding, Resource allocation, Planning together, Outcomes focus.
